Space2Create is a voluntary group providing creative opportunities to anyone with a mental or physical health condition, or those facing social isolation through difficult circumstances that affects their well-being. Our groups are relaxed, fun and mutually supportive. We believe creating together is a powerful tool in boosting mood, confidence, resilience and self-esteem. Our groups help people with socialising and interacting, which may be difficult after long-term illness. There are opportunities to develop new skills, and as people gain confidence many move to volunteering roles.
Some then continue on to education or employment. As well as a range of creative sessions, S2C work on art projects in the local community and take part in craft fairs, the Comic Arts Festival and other local events, often creating work for sale or display. Our Studio and Gallery space, Studio 31, provide a welcoming and friendly place for people to come and create as well as to view the artwork being created. We regularly hold exhibitions of service user work and also by artists and organisations linked with Art for Health activity.
